BRITISH STEAMER SINKS
DISABLED DURING STORM. OFFICERS AND CREW RESCUED. (United Press Association.! , (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) VANCOUVER, December 3. (Received Dec. 3, at XI p.m.) The British cargo steamer Chief Maguilla, which was bound to Shanghai from British Columbia with lumber and grain, and was disabled in mid-Paciflc during a storm last week, sank on Sunday while being towed to a Dutch harbour. The crew of eight officers and 32 Chinese seamen were taken aboard the Japanese steamer Yatgen Maru, The cargo was valued at 500,000 dollars, and the vessel at a similar amount.—Australian Press Association—United Service.
