(Received Dec. 3, at XI p.m.) The British cargo steamer Chief Maguilla, which was bound to Shanghai from British Columbia with lumber and grain, and was disabled in mid-Paciflc during a storm last week, sank on Sunday while being towed to a Dutch harbour. The crew of eight officers and 32 Chinese seamen were taken aboard the Japanese steamer Yatgen Maru, The cargo was valued at 500,000 dollars, and the vessel at a similar amount.—Australian Press Association—United Service.
