Prior to the explosion in the Greek Club two men were seen carrying a suit case. They entered the building and ascended to the floor above the club.' The Prime Minister is horrified at the outburst of lawlessness,, and declares that the Commonwealth has no power to intervene. He waa relying on the Victorian Government to spare no effort or expense to stamp it out.

MELBOURNE, December 3. (Received Dec. 3, at 5.5 p.m.) The arrests in connection with the bomb outrages allegedly reveal a plot to cause racial and industrial strife. The police suspect that the gang is financed with “ Red ” money, and say they have a confession from one person in reference to the outrages and those concerned therein. The driver of a car was arrested on night after a wild chase through the streets of Richmond by a police flying squad in a powerful car. He had to be edged into the kerb at a spot where further progress was difficult. The "police sprang out* and held the driver up with revolvers, and a live bomb was found on the back scat of the car.

The man whose house is believed to have been threatened on Saturday night is Mr Faulkner, of South Yarra, who is secretary to Mr Appleton, chairman of the Ship Owners’ Committee. It was in connection with this matter that the above arrest was made, and others followed at the houses of threo suspects. The principal gangster is believed still to be at large, and he is alleged to be one who receives orders and money to be divided among the gang from someone higher up. Early in the strike, it is said, he had been an active, outstanding figure in the William street riots. The arrested men are: Timothy. O’Connell, who is charged with damaging a building with an explosive with intent to murder; Francis Delaney, a salesman, wha is charged with having in his possession an explosive and with intent to commit felony; Stanley Williams, a bookmaker, who is charged with throwing a bomb on November 11 into the house of Mr Swanton at Kew; and Norman MTver, stevedore; and Alexander MTver, labourer; who are charged with vagrancy. °
