ORGANISED CHRISTIANITY.
TO THE EDITOE. Sin —I am one who appreciates what the Rev. Mr Fletcher is reported to have said in your issue of this morning at the Congregational Union meeting. Especially where no says that while the church is facing a challenging, cynical world, wo are facing these conditions with a Strong Churchianity and a weak Christianity. For the benefit of others interested may I ask you to reproduce the following extract: Writing in the Sunday Express, London, the Rev. H. R. L. Sheppard of St. Mar-tin’s-in-the-Fields Church of England states: —“We cannot, forget that the Founder of Christianity was unable to remain a member of the orthodox and authorised church of His day. He was discredited by its authorities and compelled to leave the Church for the open air. He was an excommunicated man; excommunicated because the Church was too small for Him and because He was at no pains to disguise the fact. Ever since our Lord s Day it has seemed that many _ of Cod s truest disciples have lacked official credentials. I confess that some of the best Christians I know do not belong to any ch ]r or my own part I may say I fear our churches never will rise to a proper sense of their responsibility.—l Dunedin, March 8. ,
