(Peb United Phess Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, January 28. Three Maori youths, aged from 18 to 23 years, were before the court this morning on 22 charges, including the theft of shoes from a store, the conversion of a motor lorry and bicycles, wilful damage to bicycles, and mischief, etc. Two were ordered reformative detention for a period not exceeding two years, and the youngest to two years in the Borstal Institution. NELSON, January The s.b. Karetu loaded 500 tons of pig iron to-day at Onakaka for Australia. This iron is the first shipment since the imposition of the duty of £3 per ton levied by the Australian Government on Onakaka iron.
