(Received Jan. 30, at 0.50 a.m.) The weather was cold, wet, and windy, and 12,000 watched a dour forward struggle. The appalling conditions seemed to infect the players, and th e game generally was uninspiring. Giving to the army match London were unable to call up several internationals, and the Waratahs were equally unfortunate owing to injuries. Their forwards were a decided success, winning three times as many scrums as London, but the latter were superior in line-outs, and enjoyed better generalship, owing to their greater experience of similar conditions. (Most of the Waratahs showed further signs of staleness. but nevertheless lived up to the tradition of being good finishers, and only narrowly failed to snatch a lastmoment try.—A. and N.Z. Cable. IRELAND BEATS FRANCE. (Press Association —Ev Telegraph -Copyright ) LONDON, January 28. (Received Jan. 29, at 5.5 p.m.) Ireland beat France at Belfast by 12 points to B.—A. and N.Z. and Sydney Sun Cable.
