Gwynne, editor of the Morning Post, was awarded £2OO damages in a libel action against Dr Marie Slopes, arising from her letter to the Duke of Northumberland suggesting that the Roman Catholics were manipulating fhe paper because the Morning Post refused to continue the Society of Constructive Birth Control’s advertisements. Mr Gwynne gave evidence that he did not know prior to the case that the Roman Catholics were the chief antagonists to birth control. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
