LONDON’S LISTENING TOWER. A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE. (Freea Association—By Telegraph—Copyright • LONDON, January 26. The police added a remarkable piece of furniture to Trafalgar square in the shape of a granite conning tower of massive proportions, impregnable to attack, from which an inspector can listen to speeches of strike time and other emergencies. There is direct communication with Scotland Yard in order to summon extra police. A powerful arc light is able to illuminate the whole square at night.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
