TENDER FOR RAILWAY COACHES. BIRMINGHAM FIRM’S SUCCESS. (British Official Wireless.) (Press Association—By Telegraph—copyright j RUGBY, January 25. (Received Jan. 26, at 7 p.m.) A Birmingham firm has obtained the contract for 50 coaches for the South African railways, to cost £170,000. It is understood that the tender was successful on its merits only. There wa s keen competition from Continental firms, including Belgian and German manufacturers, but the British tender, while not the lowest, was considered to he technically, the most favourable.
