The usual fortnightly meeting ox Court Price of the Leith, A.0.F., was held on Wednesday last, with a good attendance of members and visitors. The inability of P.D.C.R. Bro. W. R. Bvugh to be present to give his talk on Robert Burm- ” was much regretted, and hopes were expressed that the lecture would be delivered at a future date. The toast of the visitors was responded to by P.D.C.R. Bro W. Sinclair, for Court Little John, and S.W. Bro. M. E. Thomas, for Court Saint Andrews, both speakers congratulatin': the court on ita continued progress. Four new members were admitted. The half-yearly and yearly balance sheets were read by P.C.R. Bro. R. S. Varcoe (auditor), who, along with P.C.R. s Bros. J. Benfell and W. J. Duncan, auditors, also gave the auditors’ report. The statements submitted showed that great progress had been made by the court Inst year, both numerically and financially. After purging the roll the membership was 833 at the end of the ,vear. Sick allowances and funeral allowances to members amounted tc £lOl6 11s Bd, and the medical expenses were £862 6s Id. The secretary (Bro. J. K. Macfie) gave an interesting report on the work of the court for the past year, and fully explained the various funds, stating that it cost, nearly £I2OO to manage the court last year, while the consolidated sick and funeral fund of the United Otago District benefited considerably from the work of the court during that period. The prospects are very bright for the further advancement of this court, the largest in the Dominion.
