RUSSIAN CASTLE BURNED

EIGHT PEOPLE KILLED. ART COLLECTION SAVED. (Prem Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, December 22. (Received Dec. 23, at 10 p.m.) The Warsaw correspondent of Th« Times says that the fire in Dzikow Castle started at midnight. Count Tarnowsky was absent at the time. The flames speedily involved the whole building, and the intense cold prevented the use of water. The occupants rescued the nonagenarian mother of the count, and also the art collection and relics relating to Polish and Austrian history, Alfred Freyr, the Polish running champion, taking a prominent part. The second floor crashed, killing eight persons, including Freyr, a fourteen-year-old girl, and two schoolboys. Seven others were injured, one of whom died. —The Times.
