NEW SOUTH WALES v. VICTORIA

The Sheffield Shield match, New South Wales versus Victoria, was commenced, and Victoria in their first innings made 355 (Ponsford 202, Woodfull 99). M’Nameo took seven for 77, and Mailey three tor 117.
The weather was fine, and there were perfect cricket conditions. Ponsford and Woodfull gave a sparkling exhibition, treating all the bowlers with unconcern. Ponsford was particularly brilliant, never being troubled by the visitors’ attack. Woodfull was more careful and took no chances. The fielding was very keen and the bowlers, Mailey and M’Namee, were at the top of their form
SOUTH AUSTRALIA v. QUEENSLAND ADELAIDE, December 23. (Received Dec. 24, at 1 a.m.)
The Sheffield Shield match, South Australia against Queensland, was commenced. The home side batted first, and lost six wickets for 296 (Alexander 84, Harris 44, Ryan 86). The weather was fine and hot, and the wicket good. The scoring was very slow at first, but later livened up against excellent fielding and bowling. Bensted then got to work with the ball in deadly fashion and quickly dismissed the southerners.
