RIGHTS OF TRADES COUNCIL.
BRITISH SEAMEN’S QUESTION,
LONDON. December 12
The National Union of Seamen nas circularised its members (says the Labour correspondent of The Times), questioning the rights nf the Trade* Union Council to susoend the union’s affiliation. The statement says there is a rule that ”No disnute between unions shall oe beard until the secretary of the General Council, is assured that the unions have attempted to settle tho dispute themselves,” and it asks. ** Will the Disputes Committee explain whv the inquiry in'o our aliened sins, is conducted with such a deferential regard for the susceptibilities of the miners’ leaders? ” The General Council will renlv that it acted according to the standing order authorising an innuirv when an offiliated union lodges a complaint against another.
