(Received Dec. 22, at 7 p.m.) The new pensions benefits, which are to operate from January 2, will increase the total number of persons benefited under the Government Widows and Orphans and Old Age Contributory Pensions Act to 1 158 600 New pensions have been avvarded to 450,000 insured persons between th e a ß es of 65 and 70, who thus become entitled next month to draw for the first time ol(l age pensions of 10s per week without reference to their income from other sources.
