Motor boats competing at the Macaudfew’s Bay regatta on Boxing Day have been classified by the handicapper is follows: Rated at nine and under 15 miles per hour-.—Stella, Ngaio, Imp, Spitfire, Tui I, Manila, Laura, Islay, Quest Marcwa, Muratai, Nomad, and Eclipse, Rated at over six and under nine miles per hour—Marie, Pakeha, Jewel, Grace Darling, Ripple, Southern Star Dawn, Fan, Matai, Silvcrfem, Idler, Waiata, and Squib. Rated at six miles and under per hour: Verona, Tui 111, Myrtle, Manuka, Gracie, Maureen, Vyella, Daphne, Rewi, Ugie. The above classification will give an interesting division, ns it transposes number of boats from their previous classes, and will give an opportunity for classifying boats in the future. ELLIOTT CUP RACE. The annual race between 12ft bin and under sailing boats for the Elliott Cup. which was abandoned on the evening of December 14 owing to the Colleen capsizing, was resailed on Wednesday evening over the North-East Harbour Club’s course. The starters were; Betty (H. Riddell) Lassie (B. Campbell), and Rowena (R. Timms). Th e wind was very light from the south-east. The boats sailed in close company to the mark off Rainbird’s. Lassie was the first to round, followed by Betty ssec later, and Rowena over Imin astern of the leading boat. On short boards the boats sailed close • the hanks, as the wind almost petered out at times. Riddell later sailed too far into Dublin Bay, and lost considerable tim e as a result. Lassie increased her lead on the beat to the buoy off Mitchell’s, which she rounded smm n the lead of Betty. The two boats sailed for the finishing lino with fair breeze. Lassie crossing over, 7min ahead of the Takapuna class boat. The official sailing times were— Lassie Ihr obmin Ibsec Betty Ihr 43min 20sec Rowena, which was sailed by a young skipper, did not complete the course.
