TAHAKOPA SPORTS.

BAD WEATHER EXPERIENCED. RECORD ENTRIES. The tenth annual sports gathering of the Tahakopa Caledonian Society was held on hriday, December 16. Heavy rain the day before and on the morning of the sports prevented a large attendance, with the result that there was a drop in the gate money from £77 last year to £4O this year, '.'he entries this year wore a record. Ah the events - were keenly contested and sodio fine finishes were witnessed. The best event of the day was the mile race. Much interest was taken in this event, and all were anxious to sec the Southland crack, W. Archer, in action, and ho did not disappoint the spectators. Ho made a great sprint in the straight and beat Tapp by a. foot. Although the track was heavy, good times wei’a registered. The bnshcraft events were keenly contested and had large entries in each event. In the evening the annual sports ball was hold in the Tahakopa Hall, about 50 couples taking part in the grand march.
