INCIDENT OF LORD MAYOR’S SHOW. SIR JAMES PARR’S REMINDER. (From Our Own Correspol' dent.) LONDON, November 19. In the Lord Mayor's procession on November 9 there was a conspicuous caidrawn by horses on which Mas placed a tableau depicting Captain Cook s voyage in the Endeavour as relating to the “discovery ot Amstiaba. M.iny New Zealanders, including the High Commissioner. who saw the procession were rather surprised to learn that Captain Cook discovered Australia, and that New’ Zealand was not, apparently, considered of sufficient importance to be included in the creat navigator's discoveries. Sir James Parr took the matter up with the Lord Mayor's office, nointincr out that Captain Cook’s connection _ with New Zealand was much more intimate and of greater historical inteerst than iiis survev of a portion of the eastern const of Australia, including the discovery of Bolnnv ]snv and Sydney IFarhonr, and regret that in an important procession of the kind New Zealand's ;l ame had been omitted.
