In the Chamber of Deputies it was stated that the naval authorities are laying down between July 1, 1927, and June 30, 1928, one cruiser, "six destroyers, five first-class submarines, a submarine minelayer, and two scouts, in continuation of the execution of the naval programme.— A. and N.Z. and Sydney Sup Cable. MISTRESS OF MEDITERRANEAN. PARIS, December 21 (Received Dec. 21, at 7.45 p.m.) During the crusier debate M. Bremonl insisted on France being mistress of the Mediterranean. Even if she is on good terms with Signor Mussolini, he_ added, the over-population of Italy constituted a grave danger, while France must never risk her communication with Algeria being threatened.—A. and N.Z.
