MAKARORA NOTES.
(Faow On Owk Correspondent.) MAKARORA. December 12. A variety concert was held at the school on Friday night, when prizes were distributed to the successful scholars. A public picnic was arranged for Saturday, when there was a large gathering. Children s sports were indulged in, while foot races and other competitions wore arranged for the adults. In the evening dancing was indulged in to a late hour. Two Dunedin mountaineers propose to attempt the climb of Mounts Pollux and Castor during the early part of January. Representation has been made to the Public Works Department to expedite the work of hut erection on the Haast Pass track, and it is hoped that the matter will be taken in hand shortly.
