AN UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPT. (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright ) LONDON, October 5. (Received Oct. 6, at 5.5 p.m.) An attempt by Gleitzo to swim the Channel failed owing to the icy water and heavy seas. He was in the water nine hours and covered eight miles.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
