MURDER IN NEW YORK
ARCHITECT’S SON SHOT. A POLICEMAN ARRESTED. (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright) NEW YORK, August 28. (Received August 29, at 7 p.m.) Two sensational robberies and a murder occurred during the .week-end here. Judson Pratt, the son of a wealthy architect, was shot and killed while delivering a pay roll of 4700 dollars to his father’s firm. The policeman who usually accompanied him when he drew large sums of money from the bank for conveyance to the firm was arrested to-day. The policeman had purchased a new automobile with cash, and spent the evening with a ‘ companion at night clubs, where he handed out hundreds of dollars as tips. He claims that he had come into a legacy. Mrs James Snowden, a leading society figure, after acting in an amateur musical review given at a fashionable watering place, Southampton, returned home and left 100,000 dollars’ worth of jewels, which she had worn during the upon a dressing table. This morning the jewels had disappeared and there was no clue of the thief.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
