(Received Dec. 20, at 5.5 p.m.) In the Sheffield Shield match South Australia in its first innings made 500 (V. Richardson 157, Alexander 45, Pritchard 40, Grimmett 48). Mailey took six for 191 and Kippax two for 50. New South Wales has three wickets down for 203 (Steele 28, Phillips 54, Andrews 66, Kippax 39). The weather was fine, and ihe wicket was good. Richardson’s was a great innings, his score being made in 222 minutes. His average for Sheffield Shield matches this season stands at 128. Grimmett played lively cricket. Mailey troubled the others, capturing six wickets. The visitors handled the bowling freely, and scored rapidly.' VICTORIA v. QUEENSLAND. MELBOURNE, December 19. (Received Dec. 20, at 5.5 p.m.) Queensland, in its first innings against Victoria, made 147 (L. Oxenham 19, Gill 36, Higgins 19). Bowling, Blackie took four for 49, and Morton three for 39. Victoria has no wickets down for 108 (Woodfull 50 not out, Ponsford 58 not out). The wicket was covered during the heavy rain of the previous day, and was not affected, but the outfield was sodden and slow. The visitors made a poor showing against the bowling of Blackie and Morton. The Internationals, Woodfull and Ponsford, made an excellent start for Victoria, handling the bowling with great freedom. SYDNEY GRADE COMPETITION. SYDNEY, December 19. (Received Dec. 20, at 5.5 p.m.) Owing to the rain-soaked pitches several of the grade matches were postponed, and the scoring was low in the games that were played. For Paddington against Waver ley Datson made 71, and for Cumberland against. Glebe Waddy made 76 and Edwards 62. Bowling for Waverley, Caswell took five for 45; For Paddington, Asher took four for 85. For Glebe, Clarke took four for 38, and for Cumberland, Bosley took five for 74.
