THE DIVORCE COURT

NEW PRESS RESTRICTION'S. FIRST CASE BEING HEARD. (Frets Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, December 17. The first divorce case to be reported under the new Act is being heard. The newspapers publish the names and addresses of the parties, the grounds for the application, the fact that the respondent and co-respondent denied the charges, that evidence was given by the petitioner and other witnesses, and that the hearing was adjourned. If the judge, in sum-' ming up, tells the full story, it can be reported. Charges and couutcr-cha.gcs must not be reported unless evidence is given in support of them. The publication of any forensic joke by cither Bench or Bar is apparently unlawful, as is also a description of correspondence or of the clothes which the parties were wearing.— A. and N.Z. Cable.
