COLUMBA COLLEGE.

BREAK-UP OF JUNIOR SCHOOL. As in other years, Columba Girls’ College has divided up its closing ceremonies into two parts, and tho lirst of these took place in the Constance Hall yesterday afternoon. This was the break-up of the junior school, which includes from tho Kindergarten to Standard 11, The occasion drew a large attendance of parents and friends of tho children; and a display of the children’s work arranged in one part of the hall proved of great interest and was much admired by the visitors. A varied and charmingly pretty programme was given by tae children, who entered into the spirit of the songs, games, dances, and the tairy play with evident delight. Iho singnm of tile opening hymn "God is everywhere’’ was followed by a Scripture recitation of the Beatitudes by a group of girls, each girl taking a verse, hive little girls sang two songs very prettily, and a group of kindergarteners gave a demonstration of their musical games. A doll dance was given with good effect, and Standard 1 contributed a dainty little group of songs An exhibition of drill followed, a recitation by Wynne i 1 inlayson, songs by Standard 11, an elf dance and tv. o popular old folk-songs. Tho main item pf the entertainment was the fairy play “Roses and Rosemary,’’ in which the various parts were filled with credit and success by Annie M’Kenzie, Etheiwyn M’George, Yvonne Lock. Betty iVTh'arlane, Daisy Tipler, Jocelyn Eastgate, Joan White, and Betty Barling. The whole conception was very prettily carried out, and those taking part won hearty applause from the audience. The awards and prizes were subsequently presented by the Rev. J. J. Cairney, wbo very cordially complimented Miss L. jVX. Gillies, mistress of the lower school, and her assistants, Mrs M’Donald and Miss V. Kilpatrick, on the very happy results of their work.
