COUNTY OF PENINSULA.
The first meeting o£ the newly-elected council of the County of Peninsula was held in the Coronation Hall, Portobello, and was attended by Messrs R. Morrison (Otago Heads Riding), W. D. Stewart (Sandyraount Riding). D. J. S, Robertson (Hizhcliffe Riding), R. Brunton (Tomahawk Riding). H. Macandrew (N.E. Harbour Riding), J. J. Malcolm (N.E. Harbour Riding), J. T. Irvine (Broad Bay Riding), J. W. Miller (Broad Bay Riding), and W. J. Lewis (Portobello Riding). Mr H. Macandrew was elected chairman. Mr W. Fleming was appointed county clerk, pro tem. Messrs Solomon, Gascoigne, Sinclair, and Solomon were appointed county solicitors. Messsr Miller, Brunton, and Morrison and the chairman were appointed a Finance Committee. The Bank of New Zealand was appointed the county bankers; The council decided that in the meantime the meeting place should be the Coronation Hall, Portobello, and that the next meeting be on Thursday, January 13. It was resolved that Mr H. Macandrew be recommended to the minister of Public Works as the council’s representative on the local Highways District Council. ''
