THE MURULLA DISASTER
TRIAL OF TRAIN OFFICIALS. (Pro** Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, December 6. (Received Dec. 6, at 11.50 p.m.) The trial on a charge of manslaughter commenced to-day of Ernest Turner and David Davies, the driver and the guard respectively of the goods train, which caused the Murulla railway disaster. The accused were charged in respect of the death of only one passenger, and both pleaded not guilty. In his opening address the Crown prosecutor referred to the estimable character and unblemished record of both the accused, and said that all the jury was asked to determine was whether the accused showed guilty negligence in the performance of their and, if so, whether it amounted to criminal negligence.
