AUCKLAND WOOL SALE.

SPIRITED bidding. PREVIOUS PRICES EXCEEDED. (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, November 26. The Official report of the Woolbrokers’ Association states that the wool sale opened with a strong demand, the bidding being spirited and general. These conditions were maintained throughout the sale, and the prices, compared with those realised at the three previous sales held in New Zealand this season showed . considerable advance, but in recording this advance the quality of the wool had to be taken into consideration. The Auckland clip offered at the sale represented the best quality wool so far presented to buyers this season. The good clearance effected was due in a large measure to the increased competition by Continental buyers, compared with their operations at the southern sale. The top price of 20id, paid on Thursday for a nice line of half bred from Waiheke, was not equalled to-day. The next highest price of I9d was paid for a line of seven bales of excellent quarterbred from Ponui, another island in the Hauraki Gulf, An analysis of the prices shows that the bulk of the growers will receive slightly less than was realised at the corresponding sale of last season. However, the values for crossbreds, which comprise the bulk o> the Auckland clip, were appreciably better than those established at the February sale last season. Bellies and pieces and crutchings and locks also made better prices than those obtained in February. The following table gives the range of prices realised at the sale compared with the opening sale of last season the prices in November, 1985. being given in parentheses) ; Fine halfbred (56’s, 58’s): Super, 16|d to 20id (18J(d to ?0d); average, 14cl to 15£d (16d to 17gdj; inferior, 12d to lojd.
