DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE Mining shares cxatinue to be the main centre of interest on the Dunedin Stock Exchange, and other stocks remain steady. Bank of Australasias remain without inquiry, sellers’ quotation of £l4 7s 6d showing no alteration. Bank of New Zealands are unchanged, with buyers at 60. and sellers at 60s 9d. Rights have firmed, buyers offering 6s 7d. Business has been reported at 6s 7d and 6s Bd. National Bank of New Zealands improved to a sale at £7 Is, and buyers now quote at £7 Os 6d. Commercial Banks, which have changed hands at 32s 6d, are wanted at a reduction of fid on that price. For the paid up issue of National Bank of Australasias £l7 15s is offered, and the contributing shares are inquired for at £8 17s fid. Unions are without buyers, sellers asking £ls 6s. Buyers' offers for New Zealand Breweries shares have advanced to S2s without business, sellers demanding Is more. Recent inquiry has boon made for the 10 per cent, debentures at 24s 9d. Sellers will not part at less than 25s 6d. Among insurances Nationals are still without demand. Up to 33s fid has been offered for New Zealand’s, and inquiry was recently made for Standards at 58s. Huddart Parker ordinary shares are available at 47s fid. buyers making an offer of 465. _ . Union Steams are on i .rV- at 20s fid, without a repetition of inquiry at 20s 4d made a few days ago. Westports are not in demand, but sellers are willing to part at 565. Goldsbrough, Morts have attracted buyers at 49s 6d, a slight improvement, but none is offering at less than 50s fid. A firming of £1 in Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile ordinary shares has failed to bring any sellers to light. Wright, Stephensons are still without inquiry, though the ordinary shares are offered at a reduction of Is. The paid-up issue of New Zealand Refrigeratmgs improved to change hands at 15s, and further lots are available at that figure. Sellers’ reply to an offer of 40s 9d for British Tobaccos leaves a margin of Is fid. Business was done in Dominion Rubbers at 49s fid earlier in the week, but the present selling quotation of 51s has not attracted inquiry. Kaiapoi Woollen ordinary shares are still available at 11s fid, and 2s 4d is offered for contributing shares, without response. Inquiry for New Zealand Dru-s at 70s fid has been maintained, but holders have not been encouraged by this offer. Buyers’ quotations for Guarantee Corporations has further eased, but the reply remains at 10s 9d. New Zealand-Malay Rubber shares are sought at 42s fid, but sellers are reticent. Paper Mills were recently wanted at 18s 3d, but there is no immediate offer in spite of sellers’ quote of 19s. Inquiry for Taranaki Oils remains at 10s, without response from sellers. Kawaraus have shown a further advance in values, and sales have been recorded at up to 3s 7d. Further business was done at a reduction of a pefinv, and the closing quotations were 3s 3d (buyer) and 3s fid (seller). Nokotnais arc offered at 5s 9d premium, with inquiry at 4s premium. . Mount Lyalls changed hands, cum dividend, at 295, an advance of Is, and further inquiry is made at that price. No business has been done in St. Bathans, wliich have weakened by fid. Blacks were turned over at 3s _3d discount, and the most recent offer is 3s fid discount. . . Upper Nevis hav steadily increased in value, and the present buying quotation stands at 5s 3d premium, compared with 3s fid premium a week ago. _ None is available at less than 6s premium. Both 1938 and 1939 4A per cent. Bonds have advanced 5s in value, and the present unanswered inqnir- is made at £96 17s fid. Five and a-balf per cent.
