CAMPING FOR BOYS.

A POPULAR ENCAMPMENT. Every real boy responds vibrantly to tbo “call of the wild,” the lure of the mountains and streams, the spell of long summer days and nights, of the tramps, swimming, ’camp-fires and a hundred joys dear to the heart of an out-of-door boy. Camping offers an unequalled opportunity to the boy who seeks the recuperation and recreation of body, soul, and mind. A town boy needs to break away from the dust and din of city streets. He needs to lot the sun and wind tan and toughen his body. This fact is fully realised by the Y.M.C.A. Boys’ Division. It has had a wide experience in the conduct of boys’ camps. Every year its splendily equipped and organised encampments attract a great gathering of boys. The camping ground is in the neighbourly but secluded and lovely valley at_ Whare Flat. A,camp matron, who supervises the cooking, brings the comforts of home near to the campers. A large kitchen makes this possible. The camp prospectus has been printed and presents an alluring programme of activities in water and field, campcraft and nature study. The programme is inspired by » worthy purpose, the aim being “to provide boys with a happy, invigorating vacation in a wholesome environment under leadership that is calculated to foster ideals of robust Christian character.” The camp, which begins on Boxing Day and continues for five weeks, will again be under the personal supervision of Mr Robert Adair Parents can have every assurance that their boys will he adequately provided for in every way.
