LADY STRATHCONA’S FORTUNE,
NEARLY SEVEN MILLIONS,

(Received Nov. 12, at 5.5 p.m.) What is believed to be the largest estate left by a woman in the history of the Empire is that of Lady Strathcona, which is now certified officially at a gross value of £6,749,231. The duty payable amounts to £2,166,780. The estate is left to the children, subject to legacies including £15,000 to her son-in-law, Commander Kithon, £SOOO to Lord Congleton (another son-in-law), £25,000 to the Royal Victoria Hospital at Montreal, £4OOO each to her housekeeper and nurse, and £2OOO to her secretary.
