A FISHERMAN DROWNED.

FALLS FROM DECK OF LAUNCH. RESCUE ATTEMPTS FAIL. Benjamin Gordon Beverley, a fisherman, was drowned at Moeraki yesterday. Beverley, who was a single man, aged 2.2, had been out fishing in company with his brother Edward, and while returning he waa standing on the deck of the launch pouring petrol into the tank when the boat lurched, and ho was thrown overboard. His brother threw out a lifebelt, but the efforts at rescue were unsuccessful, and the man sank apd was drowned. Other boats hurried to the scene, but the body was not recovered. The accident occurred only half a mile from the pier.
