(Peb United Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND, September 23. No news has yet been heard at Auckland of the safe arrival at Sydney,of the scow Maroro, which is considerably overdue. The Maroro, which has, previously made several lengthy passages between Australia and New Zealand, is now 52 days out from Gisborne. Before leaving Newcastle for Auckland the Lamb Company’s steamer Omana, which arrived in port this morning, was instructed to keep a sharp look-out for the missing sailer, but failed to sight her. PAHIATUA, September 23. Alfred Scott, who was arrested at Blenheim, was charged with obtaining £l6 16s from Alfred Richard Leevers by false pretences at Pongaroa. He was admitted to probation for 12 months, on conditionthat he repaid the amount, with expenses (£i 10s) within three months. CHRISTCHURCH, September 23. On the application of Mr W. J. Hunter, on behalf of the Canterbury Law Society, an order nisi was made by Mr Justice Sim to-day calling on Eric Donald Ross, who was convicted of theft while managing a branch office of a firm of solicitors, to show cause why he should not be struck off the Roll of Solicitors.
