ST. JOSEPH’S BRANCH. No. 73. Tho fortnightly meeting of tho St. Joseph’s Branch, No. 75, oi the Hibernian Society wao held in the Dunedin Hibernian Social Club Rooms. Tho branch president (Bro. W. H. Colo) presided, and there was a largo attendance of members. ine agenda paper for the half-yearly meeting ol the New Zealand District Executive was discussed at some length. Bro. J. Walsh, ot Auckland, was appointed to represent St. Joseph's branch at that meeting by proxy. The president (Bro. W. H. Cole) thanked all those members of the society who had assembled in order to form a guard of honour to Bishop Whyte ana Bishop Brodie on the occasion of the laying of the foundation stone of the new wing of (ho orphanage, South Dunedin, and also for attending the opening of the new church at Outram. It was decided that St. Joseph’s branch procure a photograph of tho late Bishop V erdon, the photograph to be bung in the meeting room. Uhe president reported on a recent meeting of the juveniles, and remarked upon the progress that the branch was making. At a meeting of tho Social and Debating Club it was decided to hold a series of entertainments. It was also decided to write to the Oamaru Catholic Young Men’s Club, arranging for a return debate with them in this city. The Billiard Committee reported that the final of the billiard tournament had been played, and that Mr F. Beherno was the winner and Mr G. Corston was runner-up. The club president reported on a return billiard match with the South Dunedin Club, the Dunedin Club proving the winners by 65 points. The club president (Mr A. Gillick) extended a welcome to the visitors, and expressed the pleasure it was for fellow club members to have the members of the South Dunedin Club with them. Mr E. Fay (captain of the South Dunedin team) returned thanks on behalf of his club.
