The programme for next sports day was slightly amended. _ It was unanimously agreed that it was inadvisable to hold the sports before the Christmas holidays owing to the various examinations, and the date was then fixed for March 4. Mr Smith

moved that the sporto be again held at Oturehua. The Naseby representatives stated that they had been given to understand that the event was to be movable, and urged that it would tend to give more publicity amongst schools in the whole district if this were the case. They extended an invitation to hold the sports at Naseby. The President said that there was no decision previously to make the meeting a travelling event, nor did Oturehua wish to claim it as a permanent fixture. _ Following a discussion and explanations the Naseby delegates withdrew their amendment and offered to give every assistance to the event at Oturehua. The decision to hold the sports at Oturehua was carried unanimously. It was agreed to amend the rules allowing each school committee one delegate to the annual meeting, and provide that each school should appoint two delegates with two votes to each school committee. _ _ t Following this meeting, a discussion was brought forward by the Naseby delegates as to the advisability of forming a Manjototo District School Committees’ Association, and also the provision of a District High School at Ranfurly _As representatives from other schools in the district were not present the matter was only discussed informally, but those present agreed that the proposal to establish a District High School would receive warm support throughout the district. Monday evening saw a recurrence of the bitter weather experienced last week. Early in the evening a strong wind increased to a gale. * A heavy hail shower was followed by a fall of nearly 2in of snow, which was general around the district. This was followed by a sharp frost, but conditions have improved again and the snow has disappeared. Only a few lambs have appeared, and there has not been muph loss as yet. The lambing season generally begins early in October.
