THE MISSING TROPHIES.

LEFT DUNEDIN ON TUESDAY. (Per United Press Association ) WELLINGTON, May 28. Concerning the report that the Ranfurly Shield and Moascar Cup were not traceable, Mr R. S. Johnston, secretary of the Provincial Court at the Exhibition, explains that the trophies left Dunedin on Tuesday last consigned to the secretary of the Napier Chamber of Commerce. They should reach Napier this week, as tho other trophies, which left Dunedin at the same time, . arrived in Wellington this morning. MAY BE ON KAHIKA. Following a message from Napier stating that tho Ranfurly Shield and Moascar Cup, which are at present held by the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union and T e Auto College respectively, and which had been on view at the Exhibition in the combined court, could not be traced, inquiries were made at the Exhibition yesterday. The custodian of the now dismantled court stated that the cups and trophic? were all on their way to the North Island. They were insured, and had been forwarded by special express carriage. Messrs Crust and Crust, who undertook the carrying and delivery work lor the Wellington combined court, stated that it was impossible to tell for certain the whereabouts of any particular exhibit, as all wore packed in oases when received by them. However, three small cases, iwited for £IOO, left by the Kahika on Thursday evening, bound for the north, and addressee! to the secretary of the Court Committee, Napier. It is probable that these will prove to be tho missing trophies.
