TO-DAY’S FOOTBALL.

During the week the hope expressed by football followers was that the weather would take up, .arid that the Carisbrook Ground would be in good condition for the two big attractions arranged for this afternoon, as under favourable conditions two of the best games of the season should be witnessed. At 1.30 University B will meet Zingari-Richmond. and as neither of these teams lias so fur suffered defeat this match is being looked forward to with great interest. University B has a good team, and so far have shown excellent combination. Zingari-Rich-mond has also a good all-round team, the forward division, in particular, being very strong. At 3 p.m. Pirates (last season’s premiers) will meet University A, and though Pirates have not quite lived up to last year’s reputation, at present being two points behind University A. the team has been somewhat reorganised, and the presence of St. George behind the serum should make an improvement to the play of the backs. Both teams are very confident for this afternoon’s game, and a fast, open match should be witnessed. At Tahuna Park No. I, Southern will meet Alhambra. The Southern team consists of young players, who are showing great improvement each week. Alhambra will require to show its best form to win. On the No. 2 ground a keenly-contested game should be witnessed between Union and Dunedin. A good game should also be witnessed at Mosgiel between the Kaikorai and Taieri Rovers teams. Ground tickets are on sale at the Otago Sports Depot and at S. Jacobs’s. Official guides will be on sale at the ground, and arrangements are also being made to dispose of the Otago Rugby Football Union 1920 Annuals_ at Carisbrook. Annuals can also be obtained at the Otago Sports Depot. As admission to Carisbrook Ground will now be by turnstiles, patrons are requested to come provided with the exact money, and tints save time. ASSOCIATION. The principal attraction will be the High School Old Boys v. Technical College match at Culling Park this afternoon, starting at 3 o’clock. The meeting of these teams has been eagerly looked forward to, as both play a fast, vigorous game, and, having youth in their favour, play the game right up to the call of time. Spectators should be well rewarded at Culling l J ark. The meeting of Northern and Maori Hill at Prospect Park should result lu a good game, as the hill team on its home ground can always be relied upon to extend a visiting team. The Y.M.C.A. v. Mornington match at Mornington should be worth seeing, as both of these teams have now struck form. RUGBY LEAGUE. This afternoon the Otago Rugby League Will continue its series of matches. Two senior grade matches will he played on the Caledonian Ground,, the first commencing at 1.30 between Christian Brothers and Kaikorai, and the second match, City v. Kaifnngata, will take place at 3 p.m. It will bo remembered that Christian Brothers drew with Athletic in their last match a: I created a good impression in their vei-v fine ' passing movements. Kaikorai is now a very much improved team, and is sure to put up a good display against the Brothers. The leading team in the competition, City, is considered to have the best act of nippy backs, hut they will be tested by the Kaitangata team, which has selected a strong pack. Athletic and Pacific will meet on the Oval at 3 p.m., and two junior grade matches will lie hold at Chisholm Park). The box plan for the grand stand will be open up to 1 p.m. at Jacobs’s, tobacconist, where the league’s official 10-page programme can also be obtained.
