THE TRAMWAY STAFF.
SERVICES DURING EXHIBITION. EXTRA REMUNERATION PROPOSED. In its report to the City Council the Tramways Committee reports that it has now given consideration to the matter of recognising the special services and work performed by the tramways staff during the Exhibition period and recommends that the following proposals for recognising these services be approved, viz.:— (a) In respect of those employers (motormen, conductors, and bus driver’s) who have been paid for overtime worked, extra pay for the Exhibition period at the rate of Id per hour for a 48 hour week. (b) In respect of other employees who have not teen paid overtime a bonus in lieu of extra pay of £SO for the tramway manager, £2O for inspectors, and from £lO to £l2 for the remaining members of the traffic staff proportionate to the actual overtime worked. The total cost of giving effect to the above proposals would be approximately £ISOO.
