SHIPWRECK RELIEF.

SOCIETY’S TWENTY-FOURTH ANNUAL REPORT. An expression of gratification that the past year has been free from any serious shipping disaster opens the twenty-fourth annual report of the Shipwreck Relief Society which will meet in the Town Hall on Monday. During the year the sum of £149 Os 9d was expended in the relief of crews as follows:—The Orini, Iris Eileen, s.s. Tainui; crews of Tora and Karu, To the Union Steam Ship Company the executive is again deeply indebted tor the handsome contribution of £IOB6 Is 4d to the society’s funds, this amount having been received from entertainments held on board the company’s steamers. The Huddart, Parker, Company (Ltd.) has also contributed £ls, being the amount collected on board its steamers. The executive also desires to acknowledge gratefully the following donations:—Otago, Wellington, and Auckland Harbour Boards, £lO 10s each; Oamaru Harbour Board, £3 3s; Wanganui, Nelson. Borough of Invercargill, Riverton, and Gisborne Harbour Boards, £2 2s each; Thames and Wairoa Harbour Boards, £1 Is each; Hon. J. G Coates, £1 1s; Westport Coal Company, £s_ ss. To Captain Atwood, the representative at Auckland, the best thanks of the society are again due for the manner in which he has assisted in administering relief in the Auckland district, and for the capable manner in which he has looked after the society’s , affairs in the north, and to Mr W, A. Kennedy, the society’s Wellington representative, thanks are also due for sirailai services. _ The balance sheet shows a credit balance of £774 11s Id, and invested funds to the amount of £I3OO,
