COOKING DEMONSTRATION.

What was claimed by the promoters to be the first actual cooking demonstration on a New Zealand-made electric range was held in the showroom of Messrs 11. E. Shaddock and Co. yesterday afternoon, and will be continued for the remainder of the week. There was an excellent attendance of ladies, the room being crowded early in the afternoon, and under the skilled hands of the young lady demonstrator, fresh from her experience in a similar capacity for the Auckland Electric Power Board, swiftly mixed ingredients entered the spotless oven and were transformed into cakes, scones, and table delicacies of all kinds. The demonstrations are being carried out with a view to proving that the Dunedin-made range is equal in every wav to the imported article, and to show the housewives of the community that the buying of New Zealand-made goods is in their own interests. A unique feature, as far as electric ranges are concerned, is that the Orion is made of cast iron, which retains heat far better and longer than the imported article.
