The Chairman of the Selection Committee (Mr J. COUNTRY FOOTBALL. The question of the policy of the union in respect of country football was brought up. Mr Harris said this was a matter wln».i had a financial aspect, and he thought the Finance Committee should bring up a report on the question. He thought the question of junior travelling teams should be considered by tho Finance Committee. Lust year it had cost the union a lot of money in sending away third grade and other grade teams. While he was not averse to such tours, they must realise that they should impose some limit. He was not referring, of course, to the tours of senior representative teams. Both questions were referred to the Finance Committee to report. SCHOOL FOOTBALLS. The Secretary (Mr E. S. Wilson) said the Finance Committee recommended that the union grant footballs to schools in the country on the same conditions as previously—namely, that the schools pay half cost. Town schools would receive footballs under the existing arrangement. It was pointed out that country schools should make application for footballs through their sub-unions, but that if the application was made direct to the union, with the half cost enclosed, the footballs would be supplied. The recommendation was adopted. EARLY MATCHES AT CARISBROOK. W. R. Littlebourne Ground, two grounds at Opoho, North Ground, full use of the two areas on the Oval, and part use of the third area. The Rugby League will again have the use of one Rugby ground on the Oval for one match on Saturdays from 3 to 5 o’clock p.m., and the use of the same ground for practice on all week nights after 5 o’clock. Forsyth, hon. secretary of the Otago State Primary Schools’ Sports Association, wrote as follows: —“Yours of March 24 to hand enclosing correspondence from the New Zealand Rugby Football Union respecting the Vancouver Cup. The correspondence has been placed before my executive, and fully considered by it, the opinion of members being against the holding of such competitions. It was decided that the Otago Rugby Football Union be informed that our constitution will not permit of our taking part in such a competition as that outlined by the New Zealand Rugby Union, and that 1 the Otago Rugby Football Union be noti- . fied accordingly.” , It was decided to forward the letter ■ on to the New Zealand Union. COMPLAINT FROM MCA CREEK. E. Sinnamon, hon. secretary of the Moa Creek Football Club, forwarded a lengthy 1 letter, in which he complained that the ■ Mauiototo Sub-union had refused his ' club’s application for affiliation. His club desired to play a junior grade team. The writer said he understood that the application had been refused on the ground , that visiting teams would have too far to , travel to Moa Creek. It was decided to write and ask the Mauiototo Sab-Union for its reason in coming to its decision. “GOOD NEWS.” Mr Harris said there was a big chance (hat the whole of the Y.M.C.A. team would join up with the Union Club this year. Representatives of the two clubs had held a meeting that night, and another meeting was to be held the following night to deal with some details. It would be necessary, if tho arrangement were completed. for the Y.M.C.A. players to obtain transfers before Saturday, and he would like the executive to agree to these transfers. lie thought the movement was one which the executive should support, as it. was in the interests of the game that these young players should come into senior football.
