PROFESSIONAL BOXING.
PURDY r. MURRAY. What may be termed one of the biggest professional contests yet staged in the Dominion will ho the Pordy-Murray clash that takes place on Saturday next at His Majesty’s Theatre. The Otago Boxing Association is very fortunate indeed in matching these lads, as the majority of the principal associations have been endeavouring to bring them together for the past 12 months without success. Both boxers are well known to the boxing fraternity. Pnrdy has an unbeaten record in New Zealand as an amateur and professional, and his contest with Murray, the New Zealand light-weight champion, is being looked forward to with interest by boxing enthusiasts throughout the Dominion. Purdy arrived in Dunedin on Saturday with'his trainer, Harry Dasher, and is training at Reekie's gymnasium. The boxplan will be opened at the Bristol on Thursday morning.
