DOMINION LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. ! GAMES IX FOURTH HOUND. OTAGO LADIES SUCCESSFUL. (From Our Special Reporter.) WELLINGTON, October 20. Ideal weather, and the best golf of the tournament—played by Otago's champion, Mrs Dodgshun—marked the fourth round of the Dominion Ladies' Championship this morning. The game between Mrs Dodgshun (Otago) and" Miss D. Chrystall (Christchurch) was well worth following. MRS DODGSHUN DEFEATS MISS CHRYSTALL. Miss Chrystall had the better of the long game, out-driving her opponent all the way, but Mrs Dodgshun was the steadier on tho greens and usod her famous chip shot to advantage. She was also driving a straight ball and playing a steady second. Miss Chrystall duffed her shot at the first tee, and was on both sides of the fairway with her drive and second at the second hole. Tho third was halved. At the fourth Mrs Dodgshun found the bunker with her tee shot. Miss Chrystall was in the rough, and when she got on the green she was stymied by Mrs Dodgshun, and took three putts, Mrs Dodgshun winning in 5 —6. (Miss Chrystall 3 down.) Tho fifth was halved in 4. At the sixth both lay on tho green within putting distance, with beautiful mashie pitches, but Mrs Dodgshun failed to sink her putt. Miss Chrystall took the hole in a classic 2 (Miss Chrystall 2 down). Both tried to cut off the dog's leg at the long seventh with their seconds. Miss Chrystall lay in an uphill stance, and in trying to allow for the natural pull she pushed her ball out to the right into a matted rough and took two to get out, laying the seventh dead, but Mrs Dodgshun took the hole in 5. (Miss Chrystall 3 down). Mrs Dodgshun topped her drive at the eighth and it ran into a pond. Miss Chrystall played a magnificent drive just short of tho ditch, but put her second up the bank past the green. Mrs Dodgshun took two putts and the hole was halved in 4. Both had exceptionally long drives at the ninth, and long seconds. Miss Chrystall was out to the right and put her third through the green into th.i rough, but she played ' a splendid shot out within Bft of the pin and hcled the putt, halving the holo in 5. Miss Chrystall outdrove Mrs Dodgshun at the twelfth, and placed a magnificent brassie second just short of the green, leaving a short putt for a 4, which she missed. Tho hole was halved in 4. The match was practically decided at the eleventh, where Miss Chrystall put her drive in tho ditch, and. playintr. her penalty third from behind a ridge, struck the top and fell back in the water, giving up the hole (Mrs Dodgshun 4 up). Tho twelfth was halved in perfect 3's. Mrs Dodgshim's second at tho thirteenth found the little pot bunker, but lay clear of the water, and she got a good distance from an unenviable lie. She took 4 to reach the green, however, and Miss Chrystall, whose long second lay in the rough near the bunker, put her third within putting distance and got a 5. Mrs Dodgshun took a 6 (Mrs Dodgshun 3 up). Both pulled at the fourteenth, lying within a foot on the lip of the 'bunker but, with the luck that had clung to her all through, in addition to her slightly better plnv, Mrs Dodgshim's ball lay on the level, while Miss Chrystal's was on a hanging lie. The hole was halved in 4. and, the "Crater" being h-tlved in 3, the match was over. Mrs Dodgshun's card read 545443645 —40 (bogey). Miss Chrystall had many minor misfortunes, not the result of her play. and gave Mrs Dodgshun a good uphill game, but the better golfer won. MISS WITHERS AND MISS PAYTON. Miss Withers (Geraldine) played better golf than Miss Pay ton (Auckland), although the latter repeated her errors of direction of the previous day, but her iron shots were perfect, and there was little to choose between them on the greens. Miss Payton was getting more distance from the tee, and won the first hole in 6to 7. Miss Withers sliced her mashie approach at tho second, and Miss Payton took the hole in 4. though Miss Withers narrowly missed a 20ft putt for a half. The next was halved. Miss Pavton found the bunker at the fourth, and failed to get out with her second. Miss Withers, who was lying 4ft from the pin with her secend, was given tho hole. An over-strong approach lost Miss Payton the fifth (all square). Both were off the green with their tee shots at the short hole, but lay dead with their seconds. Miss Payton putted too firmly, her ball jumping out of tho hole (Miss Withers 1 up). The seventh and eighth were halved. Both were on the edge of the ninth green in 3. It was here that Miss Withcrs's approach struck tho pin and lay dead. Miss Payton's chip shot was weak, and she missed the long putt (Miss Withers 2 up). Miss Payton pulled her iron shot into the rough at the tenth and took the hole in 5 to 6. Miss Payton took tho next. The next four were halved in 'bogey figures. Miss Payton was on the green at the sixteenth with her second and down in two more. Miss Withers found the bunker and plaved into trouble from it (Miss Withers 1 up)" Miss Withers won the 17th in 4 and the match. MISS JERVIS AND MISS CULLING. Miss Jervis (Hutt) had a close game with Miss Culling (Auckland). Tho first two were halved—tho first in 7 —through atrocious putting. Miss Culling won the third in 6 and the fourth in 3. making her 2 up, but Miss Jervis won the fifth in 4 and the sixth in a perfect 2. At the seventh Miss Culling got up the hillside, and ineffectually strove to get out before giving up the hole (Miss Jervis 1 up). Miss Jervis took the eighth in 4, and the ninth was halved. At the tenth Miss Culling's putt lipped the hole and came out again, but Miss Jervis sank her approach out of the rough, below the bunker on the right, amidst cheers (Miss Jervis 3 up). The latter part of the match was played in steadier golf. Miss Culling was unfortunate in not sinking long putts on the first, tenth, and fifteenth greens. MRS COOK DEFEATS MISS UPTON. Mrs J. A. Cook (Otago) again showed her qualities as a match player, and defeated Miss Upton (Auckland) after a game that might have been eitherV RESULTS OF FOURTH ROUND.
