CRICKET.
PORT CHALMERS CLUB. Under ideal weather conditions over 60 players and friends were present at the opening of the Port Chalmers Cricket Club on Saturday. The president (Mr J. H. Crawford) expressed pleasure at seeing so many players present, as this showed good promise for a very successful season. He also thanked the Borough Council for the top-dressing and rolling of the ground. The Mayor (Mr T. Anderson) congratulated tho members on the improvements they had made to the ploying area and wished the club every success. He then declared the season open. After partaking of the afternoon tea provided by the ladies, a game was played.
