THE SISTINE SINGERS.

A REMARKABLE BARITONE. There are several new singers with the Sistine Choir Soloists, who will give a season of four concerts in His Majesty 9 Theatre, commencing on Tuesday next. The personnel of the party is as follows: Tenors —Paganelli, Facchini, Sarti, and Morgia; baritones —Burani and Auchner; basses—Belli and Ferri. Maestro Casolari is again the musical director. Reviewing the first concert of the Soloists’ very successful season at the Sydney Town Hall, a leading critic said: “Amedeo Burani is the great star of the company. This young baritone has a voice of magnificent quality and tremendous volume, very resonant and soft in texture. He easily puts Granforte in the shade, and it would not be surprising to hear, within a few years, that he had become one of the world’s leading baritones, for even now he does not suffer by comparison -with artists like Ruffo and Do Luca.” Other newcomers are Alfredo Auchner, a cultured light baritone, with considerable interpretive ability, Ernesto Ferri, bass, and Slpartaco Morgia, tenor. The distinguished conductor, Emilio Casd* lari, is again the musical director, while there are many well-remembered names, such as Giuseppe Paganelli, Adolfo Facchini, Felice Belli, and Bruno Sarti. In the new programmes concerted numbers will be much more plentiful than formerly, particularly a selection of classic Italian madrigals, motets, and scenes from tho early operas, which will be presented in the court costume of the period. The box plans will be opened on Friday morning at the Bristol Piano Company.
