The small Government steamer Janie Seddon completed discharging a quantity or am munition yesterday morning, and sailed at mid-day for Wellington, her home port. The Kahika, which arrived here yesterday morning from Gisborne, via ports, sailed last night for Timarn and Lyttelton to complete loading for "Wellington, Kapier, and Gisborne. The Wanaka, which arrived at Wellington vesterday afternoon, from Auckland and Napier, is to sail to-dav for Lyttelton, Oamaru, and Dunedin. She is due here on Sunday, and will sail about Tuesday next for Bluff. The Opihi left New Plymouth at 10 p.m. on Monday for Westport to load for Timaru, thence Dunedin to load for Wellington, A elson, and New Plymouth.The Wingatui is now scheduled to leave Auckland to-day with cargo for discharge at Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton. and Dunedin. The Kakapo is due at Bluff about Friday from Walpole Island, via Noumea, with a cargo of phosphates. She will complete discharge at Dunedin. The Kamo has been fixed to load at Westport and Greymouth this week for Wellington and Lvtteiton. The Australian Commonwealth Line steamer Parattah has -been sold m London, according to cable advice received by the Sydney office. After discharging at Liverpool a full cargo of Australian wheat the vessel was laid up at Falmouth on May 2. She is a single-screw steamer of 4229 tons gross, and was one of the, 18 captured German vessels taken over from the Navy Department by the Australian Commonwealth Line in 1918. Formerly known as the Berlin, she was built in 1904. Neither the purchase price nor the buyers.has been divulged, PERSONAL ITEMS. Captain A. E. Salway is in command of the A. and A. Line steamer Trefusis, now at Auckland. Mr W. Whitefield has joined the Maheno a 9 first mate, vice Mr E. M'Clellan. Mr C. C. Calliß is now pyrser on the Maheno, having replaced Mr C. C. Veale. Mr A. B. Foster has signed off the Maheno's articles as fourth officer. Mr P. Ward has Joined the Maheno as chief engineer in place of Mr D. M'Caig. AQUITANIA'S NEW RECORDS. The Cunard liner Aquitania on a recent voyage from New York to Southampton, beat on two successive days her previous eastbound steaming record, travelling distances ol 575 and 579 miles respectively, the latter at an average speed of 24.97 knots. The speed for the entire trip was only a fraction of a knot below her record performance, and would in all probability have been even better had fog not delayed her for a short period. NEW STEAMER KARTIGI ARRIVES. An interesting arrival at Dunedin late yesterday afternoon was the Union Company's new cargo steamer Kartigi, which conies from Montreal, via Panama, and north NewZealand ports. She made the voyage under charter to the New Zealand Shipping Company, and has a quantity of general Canadian cargo for discharge at this port. The Kartigi sailed from England on August 2. Her first port of call was Sydney (Cape Breton), which was reached on August 13. After loading steel products the voyage was resumed on August 17 to Montreal, where she arrived on August 20. At Montreal the Kartigi filled up with motor cars, rolls of paper, and General merchandise and sailed for New Zealand on August 23. Colon was reached on S'eptember 5 and after replenishing her bunker s she cleared Balboa the following dav. Moderate variable weather was experienced throughout the voyage, which was uneventful.

She is expected to clear Lautoka to-morrow. Wliihemo, from Auckland, was due at Vancouver on Monday, and 13 to load there and at San Francisco for Lyttclton, Dunedin, Bluff, and New Plymouth. The vessel is expected to clear San Francisco finally about November 1. Waitomatfe cleared San Francisco on October H for Napier, Wellington, Nelson, and Now Plymouth. She is due at Napier on November 7. Luciston (chartered steamer) is to load at Vancouver next week for Australian ports. Sierra Nevada (chartered steamer) is expected to sail from San Francisco about October 25 for Auckland, Wellington, and Sydney.
