RECHABUES.

The bi-monthly meeting of the Otago Provincial Council was presided over by Prov. C.K. Sister M. Benfell, the following delegates being present:—Sister T. Fraser, Bros. A. E. Harman. O. A. Benfell, A. H. Walkinsbaw, and A. V. Gain. The annual balance sheet was received and adopted. Bro. A. E. Harman, on behalf of the judges, reported the results of the juvenile intertent competitions. primrose Tent secured first place. Rising Star Tent second, and Hope of the Valley Tent 'third. Brp. Harman said that the judges were surprised at the remarkable performances put up by the officers and members of these tehts in their general business and initiation ceremonies. The training of the juveniles received in. this respect would be of great advantage to them when they transferred into the adult tents. It was the custom to tender a complimentary social to the winning tent, and the function would be held on this occasion in the Primrose Tent room on December 7. Bro. Harman also gave the judges’ refnarks on the adult intertent/ competition, which resulted in Star of the South and Hope of Dunedin Tents tying for first place, Sobriety Tent coming next. The tents competed in the initiation ceremony only, and the function took place in the Star of -the South Tent’s room on Wednesday evening. The judges remarked that the performance of each tent was very creditable, and that it was a pleasure to judge in such a competition. A hearty vote of thanks was extended to the judges (Bros. A. T. MTndoe, A. E. Harman, and K. Johnston). It was decided that next year the Guide be again issued, and that each tent must have its 1926 syllabus prepared and handed to the Prov. Secretary at once for publication. The result of the progress banner competition will bo determined at the next meeting, when delegates are instructed to produce the membership returns for the year of their respective tents. It was decided to pay an official visit to Port Chalmers Tent this month.’ Bro. A. V. Gain announced that the sixth annual juvenile competitions in singing and elocution would take place on November 14. It was also announced that a united temperance nicnic would be hold at Portobello on Labour Day. The 49th anniversary of the Hope of Dunedin Tent was held in the tent room, Kroon’s Hall, on Monday evening, when there was a largo attendance of members and friends. O.R, Sister J. M'Loan occupbxl the chair, and welcomed members from sister tents. The annual report was given by the secretarv (Bro. A. V. Gain), and it showed that both financially and numerically the tent was in a very healthy state. During the evening Sisters Mary Doig .and Doris Bond were presented with P.G.R-. certificates by Prov. C.R. Sister M, Benfell. The following programme was provided:—Pianoforte solo. Miss May Simpson ; instrumental selections, Messrs Woolley, Duff, and Holloway, and Bro. Gain ; solos, Sifter M. Aitlccn and Air Bond. Sister P. Crawford and Bro. G. 11. Anderson acted as accompanists. After supper was handed round games and dancing were indulged in. The Hope of the Valley Juvenile Tent held its fortnightly meeting. Chief Ruler Bro. W. Coulter presiding. Sister Jean Thorn son was awarded first prize for the bun-eating competition held at the previous meeting. The judges appointed by the Provincial Council being present, the tent went through its part of the efficiency competition. The rest of the evening was devoted to rehearsing items for the annual Rechabite singing and elocutionary com petition to be Held on November 14. The meeting of (he Rising Star Juvenile Tent was held in Kensington Hall. Tho C.R. (Sister M. .Agio) presided over a fair attendance of members. Tbe principal business of tbe evening was the efficiency competition. the judges being Bros. A. T. M'Tndoe (Hope of Dunedin), R. Johnston (Sohrintv), and A. E.
