OTAGO POWER BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Olago Electric Power Board, hold yesterday, was attended by Messrs J. (J. Clark (chairman), F. Carson, P. Briscoe. H. Driver, W. 15. Galloway, and A. P. Aldridge (engineer). ENGINEER'S REPORT. The Engineer reported to the. Works Committee that main transmission line poies had' been erected from Stirling to Milton. It was expected that the StirlingClarkaville line would bo completed within the next week. Gangs had been engaged in running high-tens-ion lines throughout various parts of the southern area, and ono gang had been engaged in the reticulation of low tension lines in and about Palmerston. The laying out of the poles for the north transmission line had been commenced, and their erection would soon be taken in hand. The reticulation of tho Borough of Milton and Bruce County had been handed over by the City Corporation on October 1, and satisfactory service had been rendered. Good progress was being made with the wiring of premises in the board's area of supply, and these were beiiig tested and connected as opportunity offered.—The report was passed by the Works Committee and adopted. The Engineer also reported that six tenders were received for wooden iivoroorned houses at Stirling, Waitati, and Palmerston. The accepted tenderer was I). Murphv at £825, or three houses for £2450. The tenders varied between £325 and £llOO per house. Ohp following remits were drafted and passed for forwarding to the conference of power board secretaries to be held in November: —"That the hire-purchase system of electrical fittings and installations be brought under section 57 of the Chattels' Transfer Act. 1924, by Order-in-Council.'' \lso. "That the. expenses of visiting delegates to power board conferences be pooled and a levy made by the association."
