LOYAL EMPLOYEES.

PROMOTION AT STAKE. At a recent meeting of the Municipal Council of Wingham, New South Wales, the Mayor, Mr H. E. Baines, referred to tho question of the intentions of the State Government to victimise railway employees who had remained loyal during the 1917 strike. Two men on the North Coast line were likely to suffer so that strikers might be promoted. The Mayor moved that the clerk write entering a protest against any victimisation of loyal railway men. Mr Bird seconded tho motion, and said the men who stood loyal at the time of the country's peril should not be overlooked. Mr Lees said it would bo a shame if such men were reduced in any way. Mr Frank Robinson said the State Government would probably bo little influenced by any motions that might bo carried at that council meeting. They had outlindd a certain policy and seemed to bo determined to go on doing things like this. If they kept, going there would be a pretty mix up before long. Tho motion was unanimously adopted.
