The Daily Chronicle’s Budapest correspondent reports the sensational arrest of 30 persons accused of. being implicated in wholesale forgery and counterfeiting. Those arrested include a Jewish Rabbi known as “Miracle” Rahbi on account of his special powers of healing. The police axe endeavouring to locate the master mind of the scheme, who is known to bo one of the most skilful and dangerous counterfeiters in Ell rope. Certain information led ‘the police to believe that thousands of missing notes were secreted in the Jewish cemetery. Superficial examination proving fruitless, they dug up the whole graveyard and searched the cofilns. The Jewish, community were shocked and held a special service. They expressed their grief in the Jewish manner by rending. their garments. „ , . A large* and devoted following declare that the Rabbi is the victim of orcumstances, and many influential peppl© are willing to go to prison as hostages. _ Huge forgeries of English, American, and Continental notes, postage stamps, and passports have been traced to the same source, but the master crook has evaded arrest for five years.
