By a typographical error in our review of the annual balance sheet of the New Zealand Insurance Company the increase in the receipts from interest and rents during the past year was said to bo £11,597. The potato market is scarcely so buoyant as at the week-end. Reports from Sydney are that the price has eased there somewhat. At all events the f.0.b., s.i. price in Lyttelton is back by 10s per ton on what was the ruling a week ago. The wheat boat Waitomo, which is sailing from Lyttelton on August 12 will take a consignment of approximately 5000 sacks. Sydney merchants are just nibbling at business. To-day values on trucks at Canterbury stations are from £5 to £5 Bs. Except for the potato business, the market is almost lifeless. At the annual meeting of shareholders of the New Zealand Insurance Company motions to enable capitalising of 2s per share for the purpose of an increasd dividend were unanimously carried, the chairman stating that £123,000 came from the reserve, £15,000 from the investment fluctuation fund, and £IO,OOO from the sum set aside to provide for taxation.
