RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE Tli* executive of the Dunedin , Returned Soldiers' Association met in the club rooms last night. Mr P. S. Anderson (president) occupied the chair. Mr A. C. Laing reported for the subcommittee controlling the returned soldiers’ stand at the Exhibition, that the committee thought the association should stand the responsibility lor the stand and make levies on all sales. They had 400 square foot of space, one half of which was to ho taken over by the Red Cross Societies. _ The stand was situated in a good position in the New Zealand Industries Court—The report was adopted. . Pour nominations for membership, two inward transfers and five resignations were approved. . . The Chairman stated that the entertaining of the crows of fhe visiting American warships was a question to which the executive must devote itself. Reports of the behaviour of the men had been most satisfactory. Some of the members, if they passed through I'anama must have remembered the hospitality shown them there. It behoved them to do their best to repay the Americans for their kindness. A sub-committee consisting of ffie president and Messrs Massey, Forsyth, Harrc, and Walker was set up to make the necessary arrangements for the entertainment of the visiting sailors. The Secretary reported that the membership at the end of last month was IMI, and at the cud of July last year L'biO.
